SALVATION
The word gospel means good news. For those of us who have ever wished we could start over, the gospel is the good news! The gospel story is this: Jesus came and lived the life we were supposed to live. He then died the death we all deserved to die. He then resurrected, proving that He defeated sin and death, making a spectacle of the enemy, and now offers to us the opportunity to choose Him and receive Him as our Savior and Lord.
Our salvation is a result of God’s grace. It is based on what Jesus did for us on the cross. It has nothing to do with what we do for Him. We cannot save ourselves or earn God’s approval through the good works we do. We are saved by God’s grace when we realize our need for a Savior, turn from sin, repent and receive Jesus Christ as both Lord and Savior of our lives, putting our trust in Him alone for salvation. It is the greatest, most important decision we will ever make. The Great Exchange is to give our messy, sinful life to Jesus in exchange for His righteousness, His perfect life. Redemptions happens. Restoration begins. Our relationship with God is bridged through the perfect sacrifice of Jesus. That truly is good news.
Romans 10:9-10 says, “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
If you’d like to pray to receive Jesus today, to be made new, pray this prayer:
Dear Jesus,
I realize I have sinned against You. I’ve done wrong and fallen short of Your standards. I’ve messed up. I am a sinner and I have lived my life for myself. I am sorry. I repent. I turn from my sin and turn to You in faith. I ask You to forgive me and cleanse me of all my sins. Wash me and make me whole. I receive the good news of the gospel that You came to give Your life for mine. That gift is almost incomprehensible. While I was still a sinner, You, Jesus, chose to give Your life for mine. Now I choose to give my life to You. I fully surrender. Have my life. Have Your way with my life.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
If you’ve just prayed to receive Jesus, you have been made new! You are a new creation in Him! The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Now, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new person. All that is related to the old order has vanished. Behold, everything is fresh and new.” (TPT)
